I’m demanding N2bn from my landlord — Emeka Ike

Last week, Emeka Ike's Landlord said he threw him out of his Magodo, GRA twin-duplex in Lagos after the actor failed to pay N8.5 million naira rents he owed. The 87 year old lanlord who said Emeka hasn't paid his staff for 9 months said...
We have filed a contempt of court against him. We have taken possession of the property and about renovating it.I have sympathy for Emeka, but unfortunately, he has no sympathy for himself. Emeka went to court to plead that the judgment should be set aside, that I received a kangaroo judgment; that the case should be retried. The court dismissed it, saying it was abuse of court process.
I don’t know what Emeka would do again. I have never seen a character like that before.
Now Emeka Ike says he wants to sue him for N2. billion as compensation, in a chat with HVP, he insisted that he was not thrown out of his rented apartment by  his landlord as widely reported in the media.  He said that, he has since relocated his Saint Nicholas School, to the Island.

How Adamawa Governor, guards & aides fled when they heard Boko Haram was advancing

Posted by Unknown 0 komentar

It is said...it's better to be safe than sorry..According to a report by Punch.....
Adamawa State Governor, Admiral  Murtala Nyako (retd), and state officials in his convoy on Friday fled Shuwa in Madagali Local Government Area of the state upon learning of the advancement of Boko Haram members in the area.Nyako, who was on condolence visits to victims of Boko Haram attacks in Shuwa, Gulak and Michika, was at his first town of call  when he was alerted to the advancement of  insurgents in the area again.
An eyewitness, who pleaded anonymity because he was not authorised to speak to the media said...
“The governor was addressing  the victims at Shuwa when a military truck appeared from the blues and the soldiers started shouting ‘they (insurgents) are coming.’”
He explained that  the soldiers had blocked  the road with a truck and were shooting sporadically into the air and instructed  the security details of the governor, who had approached them, to turn back  because of the advancement of the insurgents.
He said that following the sudden U-turn, some of the vehicles on the governor’s entourage ran into each other, denting some vehicles in the process
He, however, revealed that there was no casualty recorded as there were minor dents on the cars involved, which “were even driven back to Yola.”
Another eyewitness,  who was part of the convoy, narrated the governor’s  ordeal to Saturday PUNCH.
“We went to Shuwa with the governor to commiserate with the victims with the intention of going to Michika to do same.
“However, the situation took another turn when, just before we left the venue of the first attack in Shuwa, we heard a staccato of gunfire.
“We had to scamper into our cars and the brave security details took the governor to their car leaving the staff car empty.
“We left the place in confusion and proceeded to Yola without stopping at Michika.”
Recounting his ordeal to journalists in Yola on Friday afternoon, the News Agency of Nigeria quoted Nyako to have said  that he was in the community to commiserate with the people over gunmen’s attack in the area on Wednesday.
He said,
“After addressing the villagers, some soldiers approached me as I was about to enter my car and said that Boko Haram members were coming.
“The soldiers were shouting: ‘they are here, they are here.’ So, I asked them: ‘who?’ They said Boko Haram members are around.
“After that, one of the soldiers started shooting. So, the first thing we need to do, naturally, is to get out of the scene.’’

Mario Balotelli To Face Life Ban?

Posted by Unknown 0 komentar

Players who display messages on T-shirts worn underneath their strips could face punishment under new proposals.
The International Football Association Board (IFAB), the body which oversees the rules of the game, meets this weekend in Zurich, when the new regulation will be voted upon.
The new law has been proposed by the Football Association.
It would apply to domestic and international football.
It raises the prospect of incidents such as Mario Balotelli's infamous "Why Always Me?" message, which he revealed after scoring against Manchester United in 2011, being banned and subject to a sanction.
The proposed text seeks to amend Law 4 of the game, which relates to political equipment:
It states: "Players must not reveal undergarments that show political, religious, personal slogans, statements
or images, or advertising other than the manufacturer logo.
"A player/team of a player that reveals an undergarment that shows political, religious, personal slogans, statements or images, or advertising other than the manufacturers' logo will be sanctioned by the competition organiser or by Fifa."
The IFAB will also discuss a proposal to allow "rolling substitutions" in amateur football.
The idea behind the proposal, according to the IFAB agenda, "is to encourage people to take up the sport or to continue their participation in recreational football without affecting the professional game in any way".
The rule would not apply to competitions in which amateur teams could feasibly face professional sides, such as the FA Cup.
Other matters up for discussion, but not voting upon, include amending so-called "triple punishment" which occurs when a penalty kick is given within a game, warranting a player being sent-off and a possible goal being scored.

This is a life story of a wife and a mother, who has lost her sleep just after having contacted her ex; now she is in despair and needs your advice.

"I have been married for 3years with a child, love my husband, he is the kind of man any woman can hope for, spoils and pampers me like a guy asking a girl out for the first time (we are happy).
"But I think I love my ex more, we broke up because he lies too much to me and any guy that lies to you is not serious or doesn't love you (my theory), but we remained friends, the kind of friend that you can tell anything no matter how weird. We were chatting about 2 days ago and we got emotional that he sent me a picture of his penis and I almost jumped out of my skin.
Since then I have not been able to sleep, work or do anything without seeing that image and longing
for it, I so much want to be with him but I am married. What should I do? Please don't insult me, I need honest answer cause I can't talk to anybody about it."

Gani Fawehinmi’s family reject Centenary award

Posted by Unknown 0 komentar
 Gani Fawehinmi

The late patriarch of the Fawehinmi family and human rights crusader, Gani Fawehinmi (SAN) was among those shortlisted for the centenary awards to mark Nigeria at 100 which the family rejected.
Writing on behalf of the family , Mohammed Fawehinmi first son of the late icon expressed their gratitude first before stating the reasons why the award would not be accepted by the family for the late lawyer.
Read the letter below:
February 27, 2014
Chief Anyim Pius Anyim,
Secretary to the Federal Government of Nigeria,
Presidency,
Abuja
Dear Sir,
RE: CENTENARY AWARD TO OUR LATE FATHER, CHIEF GANI FAWEHINMI (SAN)
We acknowledge the receipt of your letter, dated February 24, 2014, which was routed through Mr Tony Akiotu, Group Managing Director, DAAR Communications, Abuja, wherein our late father, Chief Gani Fawehinmi(SAN) was chosen as one of the awardees
of the Centenary celebrations of Nigeria by President GoodluckJonathan.
We want thank the Federal Government for considering our late father for this HONOUR.
However, for reasons stated here under, our family has decided it would be inexpedient to accept the award:
1. In the list of the awardees published by the Federal Government, was the name of former military dictator, General Ibrahim Babangida, who as military president, severally detained and tortured our late father. In the course of one of such illegal and inhuman detentions, our late father’s cell was sprayed with toxic substances while in Gashua prison in 1987. The cumulative effect of that dastardly action led to our father, a non- smoker, contracting lung cancer which eventually led to his death on September 5, 2009. We therefore, find it morally incongruous and psychologically debilitating for our family to stand on the same podium with General Babangida to receive awards.
2. Our late father was empathetic to the sufferings of our people, particularly students. In the last 72 hours, 59 innocent students were mowed down by the blood- thirsty Boko Haram terrorists in Yobe state, while 20 other girls were similarly abducted by these same band of terrorists. These girls are still in captivity while their fate is unknown. If our late father were to be alive, would he be wining and dining with all the glitterati at a Centenary celebration under these circumstances? Certainly no.
3. In the past few weeks, the polity has been assaulted with putrid odour of corruption with the alleged $20 billion missing in NNPC, a development that became the Archilles heel of Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the suspended Governor of Central Bank. As an anti-corruption activist, if he were to be alive, our late father would have confronted the issue head-long and possibly gone to court. With the issue still raging, would our late father have accepted this award at this critical moment? Certainly no.
4. Our late father was unrepentantly for the UNITY of Nigeria. However, with the level of profligacy in some of the events celebrating NIGERIA’S Centenary, our late father would have preferred these multi- million Naira expenditures channeled to our decrepit Teaching hospitals, than unproductive razzmatazz that do not improve the socio-Economic well being of our people.
Sir, for these reasons, our family respectfully declines to receive the award about to be conferred on our late father by the government.
Please, accept the assurances of our highest consideration.
Long live Federal Republic of Nigeria.
(Signed)
MOHAMMED FAWEHINMI, ESQ.
(For and on behalf of late Gani Fawehinmi family)

Nigeria, Cameroon May Clash Over Boko Haram

Posted by Unknown 0 komentar

There are strong indications that Nigeria and Cameroon may clash over Boko Haram as the Federal Government accuses Cameroon of harbouring members of the militant Islamic sect.
A top source in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who confided in one of our correspondents in Abuja, said that President Goodluck Jonathan would report Cameroon to relevant agencies in the United Nations.
Part of government’s strategy is to adopt the policy of hot pursuit, whereby Nigeria’s military will chase the insurgents into their hideouts and flush them out while those in the diplomatic circles will continue with diplomacy.
Saturday PUNCH learnt that this was one of the reasons why Jonathan canvassed that countries should be allowed to chase fleeing terrorists to other nations while addressing fellow African leaders during Thursday’s International Conference on Human Security, Peace and Development: Agenda for 21st Century Africa, in Abuja.
He had asked his colleagues to, as of necessity, change their collective approach and work closely together
to confront and defeat the purveyors of hate who do not respect borders and boundaries.
He said, “Our architecture must recognise the fact that trans-border criminals don’t respect boundaries while law enforcement agencies are compelled to respect our international boundaries,’’ adding, “There must be compromise on this if we must wipe out criminality and trans-border crimes.
“While we respect our national boundaries, terrorists move in and out of our borders, it’s now time that we should agree as African leaders that an act of terror against one nation is an act of terror against all nations.”
In a veiled reference to Cameroon, the President said, “We must not allow our countries to become safe havens for terrorists; we must cooperate maximally beyond political boundaries and adopt protocols that allow other countries to pursue terrorists to their safe havens in other nations.
“While we cannot redefine our borders we can redefine our collective approach in fighting trans-boundary insurgencies.’’
Saturday PUNCH learnt that the Federal Government was of the view that since the joint commissions had not yielded any positive fruit, it should start looking towards a new direction.
“The best option is to involve the military and use the policy of hot pursuit,’’ a foreign ministry source noted.
The Federal Government believes Cameroon has a history of harbouring criminals that use its territory to destabilise Nigeria.
Saturday PUNCH learnt that the Federal Government was aware of Cameroon’s unexplainable indifference to Nigeria. One of the sources said that as early as 1906, northern Nigeria suffered from violence orchestrated by religious leaders whose roots were in northern Cameroon.
It was further learnt that the Federal Government was disturbed that Cameroon, unlike Niger and Chad, had been providing a safe haven for fleeing Boko Haram members in northern Cameroon.
Nigeria’s frustrations were echoed by President Goodluck Jonathan, who during the last presidential media chat, made a veiled reference to contacts being made with Cameroon over Boko Haram.
According to a source, the 1906 Mahdist rebellion in Kano has an imprint of such pseudo Islamic teachers.
The source recalled that Mallam Muhammadu Marwa, better known as “Maitatsine” a Fulani native of Marwa, in northern Cameroon, was driven from the northern commercial city of Kano back to Cameroon by the Emir of Kano in 1962.
He further noted that Maitatsine returned to Nigeria in 1966 as a Quranic teacher. “Marwa remained in the country recruiting and indoctrinating gullible young men until he led an insurgency in the 1980s,’’ he added.
Commenting specifically on the Boko Haram insurgency, the source said, “From all indications, there appears to be an unwritten understanding between the sect members and Cameroonian security forces that they can operate from bases within their borders as long as they don’t launch attacks within Cameroon.
“Cameroon has a history of harbouring criminals who use its territory to destabilise Nigeria. You may wish to recall that the leader of the Maitatsine Islamic sect operated from Marwa, a Cameroonian border with Nigeria’’
Also, a retired diplomat who pleaded anonymity, expressed disappointment that Cameroon had failed to reciprocate Nigeria’s generosity, especially after giving up the Bakassi Peninsula.
He, however, said the situation was not hopeless if Nigeria could leverage on its healthy relationship with western powers like the United States and the United Kingdom to put pressure on France who in turn would call Cameroon to order.
Investigations by Saturday PUNCH further showed that Nigerian diplomats were at their wits end after several diplomatic entreaties through the Nigeria/Cameroon Joint Commission which sought to strengthen bilateral ties between the two neighbours failed.
The source made reference to America’s war in Afghanistan which he said was part of US strategy of taking the war on terrorism to insurgents outside US borders.
Military sources, who also pleaded anonymity because they were not authorised to speak on the issue, confirmed the agreement between Cameroonian gendarmes and Boko Haram operatives to Saturday PUNCH.

SHOWDOWN: 'There Will Be Costs' for Ukraine Military Intervention, Obama tells Russia

Posted by Unknown 0 komentar

President Barack Obama said Thursday that “there will be costs to any military intervention in Ukraine,” after Russian military forces reportedly entered that country’s Crimea region.
“Any violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity would be deeply destabilizing,” Obama said at the White House, saying the United States is “deeply concerned” about the reports of the Russian presence there.
“The Ukrainian people deserve the opportunity to determine their own future,” he said
U.S. officials confirm to NBC News that uniformed Russian forces are still entering Simferopol in Ukraine’s Crimea region. While not able to confirm the numbers used by Ukraine officials -- 2,000 or more -- the officials say they have no reason to doubt the basic information that there are Russians arriving on Russian aircraft.
Ukraine's U.N. Ambassador, Yuriy Sergeyev, told reporters Friday that "we are strong enough to defend
ourselves."
The Obama administration has repeatedly warned Russia not to inflame tensions in Ukraine by intervening in the volatile country.
Obama’s remarks come after deposed Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych pledged to “keep fighting” the new leaders of the country. Yanukovych, who has resurfaced in Russia, blamed the West for “irresponsible policies” and “pandering to” to protesters who occupied Kiev.

President Jonathan’s cousin abduction: Kidnappers demand N500m ransom

Posted by Unknown 0 komentar

 Inengite Nitabai

The kidnappers of Chief Inengite Nitabai, cousin to President Goodluck Jonathan, have demanded the sum of N500m ransom to set him free.

Nitabai, aged 70, was abducted last Sunday by ten armed men at his Otuoke residence in Ogbia local government area of Bayelsa State and taken away in his private Sports Utitlity Vehicle after collecting N400,000 from his wife. The vehicle was later recovered at Unuegbum  waterfront where it was abandoned, an indication that the gunmen escaped through the creek.

The victim, his wife, his wife’s sister and three of his children were in the house when the gunmen struck.
But that respite it was learnt came the way of the family when the kidnappers contacted them to make the ransom demand Thursday.

It was learnt that the outrageous demand unsettled the family members who had since resorted to prayers for divine intervention. Though his children had declined media enquiries on the matter so as not to jeopardize police efforts,  a security source told Saturday Vanguard that the abductors threatened to kill their victim if
the family failed to accede to their demand..

The security source who spoke anonymously  said the family had constituted a committee to evaluate the demand, establish negotiations with the abductors and facilitate his release.

The kidnappers, according to the source, as usual warned against the involvement of security operatives in the matter.

“The kidnappers contacted the family four days after and demanded a whooping sum of N500m. It is believed that the family of the victim has begun negotiations with the hoodlums,” he said.

The troubled family members had shortly after the incident chose to maintained silence on media enquiry on the matter for security reason in spite  of growing anxiety following the refusal of the kidnappers to establish contact with them.

The state police spokesman, Mr. Alex Akhigbe could not be reached for comment but there had been massive security presence in the community with operatives combing the creeks and waterways of the state in search of the kidnappers.

Abiola's Family Rejects Nigeria’s Centenary Award

Posted by Unknown 0 komentar

According to a report on PremiumTimes, the family of late M.K.O Abiola has also rejected the posthumous Centenary award given to their dad, the winner of the 1993 Nigeria’s presidential election. Their reason - the Abiola family believes their late patriarch deserves more than a centenary award.

Kola Abiola, the eldest son of the late politician and businessman, told PREMIUM TIMES on Friday that the award was “not appropriate.”
“For us, what the government is doing is laudable. But our family will only accept what is appropriate. If what they are trying to give him is a gold award for the centenary, we don’t consider that to be appropriate. With a gold centenary award, it means we have not left where we were when they tried to rename the University of Lagos after him. We said then that it was inappropriate,”.
M.K.O Abiola, the acclaimed winner of the 1993 presidential poll, arguably one of the most free and fair election in Nigeria’s history, died in detention five years later. And an attempt by President Goodluck Jonathan to rename the University of Lagos after the late philanthropist in 2012 resulted in a massive protest by students and lecturers of the institution.

Asked what the family would consider an appropriate honour, Mr. Kola Abiola said:
“We leave government to figure that out.”
A source close to the Abiola’s, however, told PremiumTimes the family believed the elder Abiola deserves the nation’s highest honour, GCFR (Grand Commander of the Federal Republic), having won the 1993 presidential elections, and laid down his life to usher in democracy in Nigeria. The family, their source said, is allegedly also angry that the government had failed to pay the huge debt it’s owing the late politician’s businesses. They believe the debt is responsible for the collapse of the businesses.

Meanwhile, Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka is reportedly also considering rejecting the award, which is billed to take place in Abuja on Friday. Professor Soyinka is quoted as saying:
“I would have preferred that the entire day of infamy be ignored altogether. I’m even thinking favourably of just ignoring the obscenity, then turning up at the counter-event.”

FUTURE OF DRIVING: In the future, Cars may be able to talk to each other. Seriously.

Posted by Unknown 0 komentar

Unless you're an inveterate walker or a mass-transit rider, you probably spend more time in your car each week than anywhere except your workplace and your home.
It's not always pleasant. Highway gridlock, a fruitless search for a parking space or a brush with a thundering tractor-trailer can rattle all but the most Zen drivers.
Things are about to get better. A new wave of innovation, led by carmakers and automotive-tech companies, is transforming the driving experience. Thanks largely to on-board computers, our vehicles are becoming smarter, nimbler, safer and more fun. (Human drivers, unfortunately, will remain as erratic as ever.)
Fully self-driving cars remain some years away. But new technology in the next five to 10 years will help cars park themselves, monitor the alertness of the driver and even communicate with each other to avoid collisions. Tomorrow's cars may have long-range headlights, external airbags and hydrogen fuel-cell engines
that emit only water.

Cars that collect data about you
Thanks to on-board computers that operate everything from the stereo and navigation to the brakes and accelerator, the era of "big data" is coming to the automobile.
Like their deskbound brethren, these rolling computers produce an enormous amount of data – mostly about
people's behavior behind the wheel – that can be analyzed to spot trends and fight inefficiencies. And thanks to this data, your car may soon know where you want to go before you even pull out of the driveway.
Mercedes-Benz is developing a system that over time promises to learn your schedule, tastes and even your moods. For example, it knows that you leave the house every weekday at 7:30 a.m. to take your kids to school and that you like the cabin a toasty 75 degrees. Based on GPS and satellite data, it quickly learns your preferred routes and tracks real-time traffic problems, so it can suggest detours to help you save time.
The car can even tune the radio to the Disney channel until you drop off the kids, at which time it will recommend NPR. In the afternoons, it knows you usually prefer hip-hop.
"It's almost like the car's becoming aware," says M. Bart Herring, general manager for products for Mercedes-Benz. "Because it can make really smart decisions."
Ford has developed a system for its hybrid cars that tracks where and how an owner drives each day to maximize fuel economy. That data can be used to alter how the hybrid system behaves -- when the gasoline engine comes on to generate power, and when the car runs on electricity only -- to get the most driving range. For example, if your car recognizes you're almost home, it will switch over to electric power knowing you'll soon be able to recharge the battery.
This all happens without the driver having to punch in a destination on the car's GPS. The car will simply have learned that when you get in your car at 8 a.m. on a Tuesday you are almost certainly about to take the same route you take every Tuesday at that time.
Of course, all this data about motorists' whereabouts raises concerns about privacy, especially if automakers were to sell that data to marketers. A report last month by the Government Accountability Office found that carmakers do not appear to be sharing any location data that would personally identify drivers, although the automakers' privacy practices remain confusing.
Meanwhile, many new vehicle models today have sensors connected to the pedals and steering wheel that detect exactly what you're doing with those controls, while separate sensors connected to the wheels and engine detect what the car is doing in response.
That information is stored in an event data recorder, sometimes called a "black box." It's different from a "black box" in an airliner because it doesn't record the car's position or conversations inside the passenger compartment. But it is continually recording everything the driver does with the controls.
In the event of a crash, it stops recording and preserves that last few seconds of activity. With a court order, police, attorneys and insurance companies can collect that data to see whether a driver was speeding or failed to take evasive action to avoid a wreck.
Progressive, the insurance company, has found that how you use your brakes -- specifically, whether you tend to make short, sudden stops or longer, gentle ones -- can be an excellent predictor of whether you're likely to file insurance claims.
That's why Progressive's Snapshot tool, a device that taps into your car's computer systems, monitors only your braking behavior. That's enough for the auto insurer to decide whether you deserve a break on your insurance premiums. (Hint: Gentle braking will save you money.)
So, the next time you buy a new car, remember: While you're getting to know how your new ride handles itself on the road, your car is also getting to know you.

Cars that talk to each other
For several years now, we've been hearing about a near future in which all of our digital devices communicate with each other. Your fridge notices that you're at the grocery store, for example, and sends a message to your phone saying you're out of milk. Or your oven texts you when the pot roast is done.
Now this so-called "Internet of things" is coming to the highway. As cars grow more and more computerized, they will be able to trade messages about traffic, weather and road conditions. More urgently, they can broadcast their speed and direction and warn each other about potential safety hazards, such as when a nearby vehicle is drifting into your lane.
"If I can get information from the car next to me that they're going to turn right, that would be great," explains Maarten Sierhuis, director of Nissan's research center in Silicon Valley. He imagines a day when information about almost all vehicles is stored in the cloud and accessible by all. "It would be like crowdsourcing the driving experience."
This technology is called vehicle-to-vehicle communications, or V2V for short, and it's not far off.
In the first test of its kind, almost 3,000 cars and trucks equipped with prototype V2V devices have been driving around Ann Arbor, Michigan, over the past year-and-a-half as part of a pilot program by the University of Michigan and the U.S. Department of Transportation.
The devices emit a short-range safety signal 10 times per second and can detect signals from other vehicles to determine when a potential accident is imminent. Cars equipped with the devices emit beeps when they detect potential hazards such as another vehicle entering an intersection, a pedestrian, a patch of ice or even their driver speeding too fast around a curve.
Researchers are still crunching the data, so it may be too soon to say whether Ann Arbor's network of connected cars made its streets safer. But federal transportation officials are already sold on the technology, which they estimate could prevent 76% of the crashes on U.S. roads.
Earlier this month, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced it will move forward with plans to require V2V technology on all cars and light trucks, possibly as early as 2017. The tech would come standard on all new vehicles and could easily be added to older ones as well.
"V2V crash avoidance technology has game-changing potential to significantly reduce the number of crashes, injuries and deaths on our nation's roads," says NHTSA Acting Administrator David Friedman. "Decades from now, it's likely we'll look back at this time period as one in which the historical arc of transportation safety considerably changed for the better."
This V2V technology would only send warnings to drivers. But future systems could automatically take over braking or steering if they sensed an imminent collision, federal officials say. Carmakers also are experimenting with other methods of warning drivers of impending dangers, such as vibrating steering wheels.

Systems that monitor the driver

We humans are flawed drivers. We sometimes get behind the wheel while sleepy or even drunk, and we're easily distracted, whether by our electronic devices or something pretty outside our window.
In the gravest circumstances, we can even have a stroke or heart attack behind the wheel.
This is why researchers, app developers and car companies are developing technology to monitor flesh-and-blood drivers and help them avoid accidents. Advanced sensors in the passenger cabin can monitor a driver's vitals such as heart rate, eye movements and brain activity to detect everything from sleepiness to a heart attack.
Nissan is experimenting with an array of technology that detects drunken driving. A sensor in the transmission shift knob can measure the level of alcohol in a driver's sweat, while the car's navigation system can sound an alarm if it detects erratic driving, such as weaving across lanes.
The University of Leicester is working on a system that aims LED lights at the driver to track their eye movements and determine if they are paying attention to the road.
But even awake and alert drivers can get distracted. Audi is testing an attention guard that uses cameras to monitor the driver's head position. If a driver looks away from the road for too long and the car's sensors see it is coming up on another vehicle, the car will sound an alarm and even slow down to prevent a collision.
"The overall objective is to keep you safe, to keep you moving," says Mohan Trivedi, director of UC San Diego's lab for intelligent and safe automobiles, who has worked with Audi on the technology. "One of the other things is a stress-free, enjoyable ride for the driver."
Then there are systems that use sensors to keep tabs on a driver's health. Ford has teamed up with health-tech companies on a glucose reader that alerts diabetic drivers when their blood-sugar level drops. Ford also has developed external sensors that can detect high pollen counts and monitor an asthmatic's breathing.
At the Nippon Medical School in Japan, researchers are testing electrocardiograph sensors in the steering wheel that can pick up early signs that a driver is having a heart attack.
It will be a few years before most of these technologies appear inside production vehicles. But third-party apps on phones and wearable devices, such as fitness bands and Google's Glass eyewear, could become commonplace much sooner.
For example, DriveSafe is a Google Glass app that uses the headset's built-in accelerometer to detect when a driver's head falls. It also employs infrared sensors to count eye blinks and can sound an alarm if it detects the driver is falling asleep.
All this monitoring technology may seem creepy to people who are sensitive to digital privacy. And the potential exists for annoying false alarms. But if it works properly it could make our cars, and highways, safer.

Meet the woman who has slept with 300 people and has at least five orgasms a day

Posted by Unknown 0 komentar

A ‘hypersexual’ woman who claims to have slept with 300 people is so addicted to carnal pleasure that she spends up to five hours a day having sex or pleasuring herself.
Nessa Jay, 24, from Cromer, Norfolk, finds her addiction to sex hard to deal with and she is even having therapy to try to curb it.
Speaking to The Sun’s Jennifer Tippett, she said: ‘I get sweaty palms, I feel angry and I need to satisfy myself if I don’t get at least five orgasms a day through sex.’
Nessa, who describes herself on Twitter as a ‘philosopher in sex toys’ and ‘boinkologist’, reached her sexual peak when she was 19 and admitted that she used to have sex with ‘anyone I could’.
Nessa says she even used to meet sexual partners in the supermarkets. ‘First I chat to them a bit to make sure they’re not dangerous or odd but once I know they are OK we go home together,’ she said.
She first discovered her thirst for sex after losing her virginity at the age of 16 but now channels much of her sexual energy in to her work as a sex toy reviewer.
She has tested 2,000 toys, and says the nature of her job helps her to deal with her cravings.

Nessa also says she’s enjoyed sex with women and has had threesomes.
However, while she has been polyamorous in the past, she has one partner at the moment.
Her sexual appetite has in the past wreaked havoc with her friendships and many of her female friends have cut ties with her because they’re worried their boyfriends may be attracted to her.
However, speaking to Nick Conrad on BBC Radio Norfolk yesterday, she said: ‘It’s not all about sex, sometimes I won’t have sex with them for months. We go out and have dinner, go to the cinema.
‘I have slept with about thirty men in a month before but for years I had regular partners and that was it.
‘There is an emotional side, I believe strongly that people should have some form of emotional connection to enjoy sex. It is often very intimate, I like physical connections and I have quite high standards actually.’
She has even forged a ‘network’ of sexual partners but doesn’t want her nymphomania to define her and hopes people will view people with hypersexuality as ‘normal’.
‘I live an average life which most people my age would live. I see friends, I write, I have hobbies; it’s pretty normal and pretty boring at times actually!
‘I do not believe in sex addiction or nymphomania. My sex drive may be higher than some but it’s healthy because I’m positive about it and I’m also a trained sex educator so I always make sure I have incredibly safe sex and get tested regularly.
‘I’m perfectly healthy. I can’t change who I am or how I act and I wouldn’t want to,’ she added.

NGO uses Patience Jonathan's name to defraud 327 women in Delta State, Police say

Posted by Unknown 0 komentar

The police in Delta on Thursday said it arrested two suspects in connection with an NGO which allegedly defrauded 327 widows and poor women of N1.6 million in the state.

Briefing journalists at the “A” Division in Asaba, the Police Public Relations Officer, Celestina Kalu, said that the victims were from Asaba and environs. Ms. Kalu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said the NGO known as “Women Relief and Restoration Initiative”, was claimed to have been established by the wife of the President, Patience Jonathan, to empower women in Anambra and Delta.

According to the spokesperson, Olubunmi Monu, a resident of Asaba reported the matter to the police that in September 2013, one Amechi Ndah, also of Asaba, introduced her to Adaeze Nwokoye of Awka, Anambra.

“Mrs. Nwokoye, the purported coordinator of the NGO, and Mr. Ndah claimed that the said NGO was established by the President’s wife, Dame Patience Jonathan, to empower women.

“Consequently, she (Monu) and other women numbering 327 from Oshimili South Local Government Area
of the state were defrauded of the total sum of N1.6 million.

“Meanwhile, the said Ndah has been arrested and also arrested is 71-year-old Mr. Anene Nwokoye, of security department of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Anambra, husband of the principal suspect,” she explained.

The spokesperson said that Mrs. Nwokoye avoided every contact and disappeared following the development, but she was tactfully invited to bring more forms as many women were waiting with their money to register.

Ms. Kalu also said that Mr. Nwokoye was arrested on February 26 when he approached the complainant (Ms. Monu) to collect additional N250, 000 on behalf of his wife.

She said that upon Mr. Nwokoye’s arrest, items recovered from him were 78 copies of the NGO’s membership forms.

The police spokesperson also disclosed that the NGO had extended its operations to other parts of the state, duping unsuspecting victims of their hard earned money.

The command advised members of the public to be wary of dubious NGOs whose major objective was to impoverish rather than to empower people.

In an interview with some of the victims, including some churches, the victims said they were jolted by the offer to become members of the NGO established by the president’s wife.

According to them, one of the specific conditions spelt out was that one must be a Christian to become a member.

Besides, they were made to pay the sum of N3, 000 each to register as members to be empowered by the NGO, and an additional N2, 000 to enable them obtain loan from a micro-finance bank in Onitsha.

A Pastor, Samuel Atawe, with the Redeem Christian Church, in Oko near Asaba, said that the coming of the NGO raised their hope. He said he regretted that the Oko community became worse off.

“The NGO was introduced to us by one our respected women members and the community trusted them, and no fewer than 250 women obtained the forms from seven different churches in the community.

“The instruction given is that if you are not a Christian, you must not fill the form, so it was the churches they used and different men of God encouraged the women to key into the programme since the First Lady is involved.

“In our axis in Oko, all the seven different churches were involved and the people paid N3, 000 as registration fee and another N2, 000 to open an account with a micro-finance bank in Onitsha,” he said.

He expressed gratitude to God that arrest had been made concerning the NGO as the operators had disappeared with people’s money, failing to empower the people in December 2013 as promised.

According to the pastor, the people of the community were already becoming suspicious of the churches involvement in defrauding them, especially because of the woman who introduced the NGO to them.

“I thank God for this development, this is a prayer answered and with this arrest of the woman’s husband, my job is restored and the community will know that of a truth we were interested in their welfare,” he said.

He advised that the people should be more careful, especially with issues or proposals coming from the church. [NAN]

boy

This is not from a movie scene or anything close to fiction.
The parents of  a four-year-old boy, Elijah Howell, was noticed for his unusual behaviour which was later termed as supernatural ability by a psychic expert who confirmed the little boy’s unusual behaviour.
According to his parents Greg, 40, and Heather Howell, 38 from Napels, Florida, Elijah started talking in full sentences at 10 months old and would speak to his dead grand parents.
Daily Mail reports:
Mrs Howell said that the infant went on to correctly predict her miscarriage and that she would later give birth to twin boys. ’I found it so spooky, but not in a negative way,’ she exclaimed.
Recalling the incident, she continued: ’While I was pregnant Elijah said, “Mommy, your baby is going to go with God.”
‘I said “Don’t say that Elijah, don’t say things like that”, because I was scared because he knows things.
‘I did miscarry a couple of days later and he kept stroking me and telling me it was going
to be OK.
Cause for concern: Heather and Greg Howell from Naples, Florida, said they noticed their son's unusual behavior from a young age

‘A while later he said, “Don’t worry mommy, you’re going have two babies and they’re two boys”, and in my head I thought he just wanted brothers.
‘Months later we ended up finding out we were having twins – and that they were boys.’
The Howells called upon psychic expert, Denise Lescano, to determine if Elijah was really seeing spirits or displaying signs of mental illness.
During her visit with the family Ms Lescano communicated with Mrs Howell’s dead grandparents to get to the bottom of the mystery.

She discovered that Mrs Howell’s mother, Elijah’s grandmother, was the one who delivered the message about the miscarriage and the birth of the twins.
‘Elijah displays all the signs of being a very gifted child with the ability to connect with the spirit world,’ Ms Lescano said.
‘He has a very strong sense of having lived before and speaks of past lives.’
Ms Lescano left the Howells with instructions about how to handle their son’s interactions with the spirit world.
Mrs Howell concluded: ‘I feel much more at ease now after Denise’s visit, she’s given us a lot to think about.

‘We’re all looking to Elijah to see how his gifts develop and can’t thank Denise enough for sharing her gift with us.’
As well as working with families, Ms Lescano, who believes she has been psychic since the age of nine, has spent years helping police solve murder and missing persons case using her psychic ability.
She says her goal in life is to get rid of the fear and skepticism around what she does, adding: ‘This is not a scary thing, this is a very healing and comforting thing.

‘When I am able to help them and really pinpoint what is going on, it is incredibly validating and relieving for the family.’

Coincidentally yesterday, Lupita Nyongo was awarded at the Essence Luncheon alongside the likes of Oprah and more ..Lupita gave a moving speech on black beauty and made reference to Dencia's whitenicious . Part of it read
"I want to take this opportunity to talk about beauty, Black beauty, dark beauty. I received a letter from a girl and I’d like to share just a small part of it with you: “Dear Lupita,” it reads, “I think you’re really lucky to be this Black but yet this successful in Hollywood overnight. I was just about to buy Dencia’s Whitenicious cream to lighten my skin when you appeared on the world map and saved me.”
Now Dencia says Lupita spinned it and no fan sent her a letter because according to Dencia, she checked Lupita's twitter bio and there is no email address.....

RCCG General Overseer, Pastor E. A. Adeboye, Clocks 72

Posted by Unknown 0 komentar

The General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, also known as Daddy G.O., will add +1 on March 2, 2014, Sunday.
The man of God, who has millions of followers, will allegedly have quite a humble celebration. The Church has not announced any big plans in this regard.
Enoch Adeboye was born on March 2, 1942, in a simple family in the village of Ifewara, Osun State. The Pastor often humorously says that his family was so poor that even the poor people called them poor.
He unashamedly tells his congregation that he had never owned shoes until he turned 18. But he was gifted with such intangibles as focus, consistency, diligence, ambition, a brilliant mind and a determination to succeed in life.
In 1956 Enoch Adeboye was admitted into Ilesha Grammar School, Ilesha, Osun State and as a youth, he discovered a passion for books, and an aptitude for science and in particular the field of Mathematics. This led to an academic journey in the field of Mathematics against incredible odds including but not limited to
finances, the Nigerian Civil War and academic politics.
Adeboye had obtained not only a Bachelors (BSc.) degree in Mathematics from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in 1967, but also a Masters (MSc.) Degree in Hydrodynamics and a Doctorate Degree (PhD) in Applied Mathematics, both from the University of Lagos in 1969 and 1975 respectively.
One of the motivations for these academic achievements was Enoch Adeboye’s passionate desire to become the youngest Vice Chancellor of any one of the frontline universities in Nigeria. It did seem that his academic ambition would be realised as his academic career flourished. However, this was not to be as a greater career awaited him in the service of the Lord. In 1967 Enoch Adeboye got married to his beloved wife Foluke Adenike Adeboye.
In 1981, Adeboye was appointed the RCCG General Overseer, taking over from the founder, Pa Akindayomi, who died the previous year.
With thousands of worshippers flocking the RCCG on daily basis, the present auditorium being occupied by the Church at the Redemption Ground, which is three kilometres long and one kilometre wide, is no longer able to contain the large number of followers.
Last year, Adeboye unveiled plan by the Church to construct one of the biggest auditoriums in the world, saying that the new auditorium would be three square kilometres. The auditorium is expected to be completed before the Church’s 2014 convention in August.
